Bill Thompson

Bill first became interested in triathlon as a means to maintain his 70lb weight loss after developing a running injury in 2003. With no athletic background, he learned how to swim and bought bike. After 5 sprint triathlons he decided to give Ironman a try in 2004. With his only guidance coming from books and research done on line, Bill suffered though his first Ironman with a time of 13:54 at IM CDA. After that Bill competed in 9 full Ironman events culminating with a PR of 9:45 at Ironman Canada in 2010 (9th place AG). This earned him a qualifying spot in the World Championships which would be his 10th Ironman. He would go on to complete 12 Ironmans total by the end of 2012. Along the way Bill also found success in the Half Ironman distance with two consecutive podium finishes at Boise 70.3 (3rd AG 2010 & 2nd AG 2011) with a PR of 4:28. In addition, he also has overall wins at both Sprint and Olympic distance races.

Based on his background in the sport, Bill understands it's complexity and the importance of maintaining a balance with all other aspects of life. A personalized schedule that incorporates goals, abilities, and
lifestyle is one of the best investments one can make in Triathlon. As a long time athlete of Summit Performance, Bill's coaching methods follow the proven techniques that have led many others to success. By combining a structured training program, and guidance with nutrition and race day execution, Bill can give you the tools you need to achieve your goals.
